Read Across America Day promotes reading for young children. United Way volunteers enter all elementary classrooms, to read books and to discuss the importance of early literacy with students.
Read Across America Day is scheduled for Friday, March 1st, 2024. If you would like to be a guest reader, please contact Ayrin at coordinator@berwickareauw.org.
In 2023, over 2,400 books were collected from partner organizations and the community. These books were distributed to Berwick Area School District elementary students at no cost. Students chose books of their interest, within their reading level, to begin building at-home libraries. The book distribution was held in late spring to encourage students to read over summer break and avoid the "summer slide."
The third annual Book Drive will run April 1st, 2024 through April 26th, 2024.
More information will be available soon, so please check back.
