Berwick Area United Way’s Safety Net programs provide immediate, practical support to families and children across our community through accessible, dignity-centered services.
Little Free Pantries provide immediate, dignified access to basic necessities throughout the Berwick area. Stocked with nonperishable food, hygiene products, and warm clothing—modeled after the Nurse’s Pantry—these pantries are located at multiple neighborhood sites and available at any time for anyone to take what they need.
The Nurse’s Pantry is a straightforward, in-school resource providing clothing, hygiene items, and basic wellness supplies to students with immediate needs. By addressing these needs discreetly and on-site, the program reduces barriers to attendance and supports students’ health, dignity, and ability to learn. The Nurse’s Pantry is available in all four Berwick Area School District buildings.
Rested & Ready helps school-aged children move from sleeping on couches or floors into warm, clean beds. Consistent, restorative sleep is essential for academic success, behavior, and overall health; this initiative provides bedding and support to families in need.
